Great suggestion. We did plan this in the first phase of work, but ran out of time to release it when we wanted to. The update coming in December this year will examine all the elements on the page and provide indications on each one.

Support for Android devices is currently a project in planning. It is a lot harder to achieve under Android due to the lack of an administration mode. However, we hope to bring a product to market mid-year.
Smoothwall has a solution for corporate devices outside the network - it's called Mobile Guardian, soon to be renamed Smoothwall Connect. It's a piece of software that allows Windows laptops, OS X laptops and iPads to be filtered when on the road. We can also automatically filter BYOD devices within the network without added software or proxy configuration on the device - this supports all laptops, tablets and smartphones - iOS, Android, Windows, OS X. Unfortunately, admin access rights is key to the way the Mobile Guardian software works. Even if we provided a username/password for uninstall it would not prevent the user from deleting the .exe files and editing the registry.
The new version of Mobile Guardian for Windows (which we are re-naming Smoothwall Connect) runs as a thin client, redirecting all user network requests to a central Smoothwall server, ensuring that policy management is centrally managed. This software automatically detects when the user is behind a Smoothwall server (as a transparent proxy) or in a roaming situation (when a secure connection is made to the Smoothwall for all filtering).
