  1. Subnet Routing Verification & Automatic Undo after 10 seconds

Currently, if I type in a incorrect route, lets say I did a 10.60.4.0/20 . It accepts it, even though the subnet should start at 10.60.0.0. This in essence makes you believe your route is in place but the Smoothwall simply ignores it. It would be nice to see a validation or do what Watchguard/Other firewalls do and prevent incorrect routes being put in.

Additionally, when a route is put in, it should apply the setting but then undo itself after 10-15 seconds unless you confirm it. Similar to when you change resolution on a windows PC. This will then…

  3. DHCP Relay via IPSEC VPN

It would be useful to be able to point clients at a central DHCP server via IPSEC VPN. This would make administration of remote sites (Schools) easier

  4. Add notes to source and destination exception list so that I.P addresses are identifiable from the screen

At present we have a list of devices shown by I.P address in our web filter exceptions. It would be a bonus if we could add a device name or location to the list.

  5. Compatibility with android apps

At the moment RADAR works for MAC, Windows and chromebook. However chromebooks are now capable of using android apps, as a result android apps in chromebook is not monitored by RADAR. It will be great if we have RADAR for android as well.

  6. Standard Categories

It would be great if under Categories, the "Standard Categories" are expanded by default and if they continue to be at the bottom of the list. It would make it a lot easier to add custom content to each via find, which I would imagine that Smoothwall would review and categorise such content in the back end.

  7. 3cx Tunnel

It would be beneficial for users using a 3CX Phone system to be able to prioritise traffic using the 3CX tunnel protocol rather than STUN/SIP.

The 3CX tunnel protocol allows a single, encrypted tunnel between remote sites and a hosted PBX, allowing for easier configuration and more secured connections.

  9. your export process does not offer a start AND end time option

your export process does not offer a start AND end time option so how can we export the hours of logs we want to see ? your export options are lacking in usability.

  10. Support for packet capture within the user interface

It would be extremely useful to be able to perform a packet capture (.pcap / tcpdump) from the Smoothwall web interface for the purposes of troubleshooting. Presumably this is simply achieved if you have root access and can log in over SSH, but in environments where this is not available, there is no way currently to perform a packet capture and a very useful troubleshooting option is therefore not possible.

  11. Send now function by each scheduled report

For each scheduled report have a button to send now. This button will manually kick off the report and send to email group.

It would be good for testing scheduled reports

  12. IPS - autoblock probe IPs

It would be useful if Smoothwall had a way of automatically blocking IP addresses of malicious/probe packets dropped by IPS.
    Thanks.

  14. Safeguarding Notifications exclude nodes

We have a parent node and several child nodes. The parent node doesn't proxy (child nodes handle client proxying) and we report from the parent node. Problem is that if I schedule a weekly safeguarding notification report I get one report from the parent with the report detail and also an empty report from each of the child nodes. I'd like to be able to exclude child nodes from sending out the notifications so that I don't send out empty reports to School Safeguarding officers

  15. Destination IP column on Realtime Web Filter report

It would be nice to see a Destination IP column alongside the URL column in the Realtime Web Filter report. It would save having to carry out manual DNS lookups.

  16. Searching by IP

The realtime web filter report needs to be able to differentiate between and IP such as 10.41.145.7 and 10.41.145.71 (72, 73, 74 etc).

  18. I have tried on several occasions to move more than one url between categories.

It would appear you can only move 1 at a time which is crazy if you have 40 or more it is extremely long winded.

  19. Show plain text examples

When editing a guardian category (Guardian -> Categories -> Edit relevant block category -> Advanced) it would be nice to see plain English examples of how to add a each block search term. For example "Search term filtering" could show examples and the correct format to add the entries. Same with the other items on this page. Thanks.

  20. web filter real time - allow & denied category

many times i just want to watch a real time web filter of a specific IP address and i want to filter only denied request or only allowed requests. currently i can filter only allowed requests partially if i use httpcode 200 but if i want to find blocked requests then i cant just click one box which shows all block codes such as 407 etc. it would be nice to have a filter option to choose show only blocked url requests. so i can see if something is being blocked or not without having to see hundreds of allow…
