Ability to add notes to exception IP addresses
Quite often when looking through our Smoothwall boxes we come across IP addresses in the exceptions list that we don't recognise. This may be due to settings being implemented a long time ago, or by another member of the team. Our main concern is that if there is an address that we can't identify we need to make sure that it hasn't been implemented as a quick fix solution to bypassing the firewall, therefore exposing a user to potentially inappropriate material.
For example it may be an IP address of the schools boiler monitoring system phoning home, which is fine. Or it may be a laptop used by a teacher that is connected to a projector or white board etc. An ability to add a note to identify the IP address would be a massive help.
Thanks for all of you time and support, regards,

Please add this! We need to be able to add a note to an exception IP, especially exception destinations. I have more than a few on that list that I no longer have any idea why they are there.

A simple note would be lovely and save time and effort in the future.
I agree, this is needed
Marcel, I agree. I like the idea of address objects being central place to administer addressing across all modules/nodes.
We've also got a separate request for import functionality here too: https://smoothwall.uservoice.com/forums/145832-smoothwall-utm-swg/suggestions/16114861-bulk-import-of-ip-addresses
Maybe its an option to build Shared Address Objects:
- with import function (!)
- added automaticly to the (default) Network Address Objects
- added automaticly to Guardian locations
- added automaticly to Guardian source/destionation exceptions
- can replicated to child nodes
Do the address objects help with this at all? So in the original example you could create an object called "Boiler Monitoring" or "Mr Briggs Laptop" if you wanted and use those in the firewall?
I know address objects can't be used everywhere yet but we're gradually add support across the UI for them.

This would be a very helpful feature. The ability to keep track within Smoothwall as opposed to externally speeds everything up.
I raised this with our account manager 4 years ago when we bought Smoothwall that having a free text column associated with an entry would help when auditing the reason why an entry has been added. Still hasn't been implemented.
